The absorptivity of most metals in the molten state increases sharply, generally 60% to 80%.

1. Carbon steel. The thickness of carbon steel plate cut by laser can reach 25mm. The cutting seam of carbon steel cut by oxidation fusion assisted cutting mechanism can be controlled within a satisfactory width range, and the cutting seam of thin plate can be narrowed to 0.5mm About 1mm.
2. Alloy steel. Most alloy structural steel and alloy tool steel can obtain good edge cutting quality by laser cutting. When oxygen is used as the processing gas of NC fiber laser cutting machine, the cutting edge will be slightly oxidized. For plates with a thickness of 4mm, nitrogen can be used as processing gas for high-pressure cutting. In this case, the cutting edge will not be oxidized. For the plate with a thickness of more than 10mm, a good effect can be obtained by using a special electrode plate for the laser and oiling the surface of the workpiece during processing. For high-strength steel, as long as the process parameters are properly controlled, a straight and slag free cutting edge can also be obtained. However, for high-speed tool steel and hot forging die steel containing duck, melting corrosion and slag sticking are easy to occur during laser cutting.
3. Stainless steel. For the manufacturing industry dominated by stainless steel sheet, laser cutting is an effective processing method. Under the condition of strictly controlling the heat input of laser cutting, the width of cutting heat affected zone can be limited, so as to ensure the good corrosion resistance of stainless steel.

4. Aluminum and its alloys. Laser cutting of aluminum and dielectrics: melting cutting mechanism. The auxiliary gas used is mainly used to blow away the molten products from the cutting area, which can usually obtain better cutting quality. For some aluminum alloys, it is necessary to prevent the generation of microcracks between the slit surfaces. Despite its high reflectivity and thermal conductivity, aluminum alloy can still cut aluminum with a thickness of less than 6mm, depending on the alloy type and laser power. When oxygen is used, the cutting surface is rough and hard; When nitrogen is used, the cutting surface is smooth. Pure aluminum is very difficult to cut. It can be cut only when the "reflection absorption" device is installed on the system, otherwise the reflection will destroy the optical components.
5. Copper and its alloys. Pure copper (red copper) is too high in reflectivity, so it is basically impossible to cut with CO2 laser beam, Cutting brass (copper alloy) should use high laser power, and the auxiliary gas is air or oxygen, which can cut thin plates. Both pure copper and brass have high reflectivity and very good thermal conductivity. Brass with thickness less than 1mm can be cut with nitrogen; copper with thickness less than 2mm can be cut with oxygen, and the processing gas must be oxygen. Only the system is installed with Pure copper and brass can only be cut when using the "reflection absorption" device, otherwise the reflection will destroy the optical components.
6. Titanium and its alloys. Pure titanium can well couple the heat energy transformed by focused laser beam. When oxygen is used as auxiliary gas, the chemical reaction is intense and the cutting speed is fast, but it is easy to form oxide layer at the cutting edge and may also cause over burning. Therefore, the CNC fiber laser cutting machine adopts air as the auxiliary gas to ensure the cutting quality. Titanium alloy laser cutting ball commonly used in aircraft manufacturing industry is better. Although there will be a little slag at the bottom of the cutting seam, it is easy to remove. Titanium plate is cut with nitrogen and nitrogen as processing gas.
7. Nickel base alloy. Also known as superalloys, there are many varieties, most of which can be cut by laser oxidation and melting aid, and the notch quality is good. Stainless steel less than 4mm can be cut by laser cutting equipment. 25mm thick carbon steel can be cut by adding oxygen to the laser beam of NC fiber laser cutting machine, but a thin fluorinated film will be formed on the cutting surface after oxygen cutting. The cutting height can be increased to 30mm, but the size error of cutting parts is large.
